This course is designed to enable potential builders and others in the industry to improve their business skills and technical knowledge so that they can successfully manage their business. The course covers the areas required for both national accreditation of the qualification and is also part of the licensing requirements of the Office of Fair Trading*. Participants may complete the whole course in order to qualify for the Certificate IV, or can choose units that are critical skills gaps for themselves or their company to concentrate on one or more units. The aim is to ensure that graduates of the course have a thorough working knowledge of the concepts relating to the behaviour of structres and materials commonly used in domestic building. Particular attention is paid to the Timber Framing Code (AS 1684) and the underlying principles and terminology of structural engineering. How You Will BenefitUpon completion of this unit, including an assignment based on the take-off of quantities and preparation of a quote from a set of drawings, participants will have a very sounds understanding of quantities, estimating and quoting jobs as a residential builder. Skills relating to managing client expectations and presenting your finished quote will also be emphasised.
