Learn to carry out Pre-purchase Building Inspections and Defect Reports

Carrying out pre-purchase and defect reports building inspections is seen by many builders as a way to capitalise on their years of experience and provide a profitable cash flow in a new market.

It is seen to have reasonably low overheads, low start up costs and "better than swinging a hammer for a living".

Master Builders NSW and RAPID Training have developed a two day training course that provides training in the correct inspection process and the development and completion of the inspection report.

What does the program cover?

  • Different inspection types
  • Processes and tools used during the inspection
  • Carrying out an actual onsite inspection
  • Common building faults
  • Our duties within the law
  • Working to a standard
  • Planning and preparing the final reports*
  • Wording your findings
  • All documentation that supports the report

Units of competency:

  • CPCCBC4001A - Apply building codes and standards to the construction process for low rise building projects
  • BSBCMN420A - Write complex documents

Duration:

The course runs over two consecutive days

Prerequisites:

  • 15 years practical experience in the building and construction industry
  • Hold or be eligible for a current Building Contractor Licence or Qualified Supervisor Certificate
  • Have access to the National Construction Code Building Code of Australia (BCA) - Class 1 & Class 10 Building

*At the conclusion of the course participants are required to complete two (2) reports before final competency is achieved. These reports can be used to apply to become an Accredited Building Consultant with Master Builders.

CPD: 24 points (24 points will be issued after being found competent against the performance criteria)
