Unit Aim

To enable participants on the MBA's Certificate IV in Building Course to gain competence in contract administration, construction planning, coordination, and legal requirements in order to allow them to operate a successful small business in the NSW building industry in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and codes.

  • How to identify and implement the legal requirements of a business in the building industry
  • Complying with legislation, codes and regulatory requirements relevant to home building
  • Negotiating and administering contracts with clients and building professionals
  • Construction planning (Bar chart method)

How You Will Benefit

You will gain an understanding of the legal, contractual and statutory requirements of builders in NSW. Issues such the your responsibilities with regard to ABN and GST requirements, the Home Building Act, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, the choice and use of building contracts, standard letters and office administration, various insurances, and more will be covered.
