Unit Aim

The timber framing, bracing and tie down unit of the Certificate IV in Building course focuses on identifying member sizes in timber frame construction and arms participants with the knowledge required to calculate bracing tie down requirements for timber frame residential buildings. Particular attention is paid to the Timber Framing Code (AS1684) and the sourcing of information and application of the timber framing code.

In this module you will focus on Timber Framing Design, wind loads on buildings, tie downs  and calculate wall and roof bracing requirements.
